Built by Sri Jayachamaraja Wodeyar in 1953, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Gayathri Devi, who is depicted with five faces representing the five life-forces (pranas) - Prana, Apana, Vyana, Udana, and Samana.
These pranas consist of the five elements - Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and Sky.
The temple features intricate sculptures and detailed architecture, showcasing the skill of the legendary sculptor Sri B. Basavanna and the guidance of Sri Siddalingaswamy.
