The Sri Kaalikambal Temple, also known as the Kalikambal Temple, is a historic Hindu temple located on Thambu Chetty Street in George Town, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kalikambal, a form of Goddess Parvathi, and Lord Kamateswarar, a form of Lord Shiva. It was originally situated closer to the sea but was relocated to its current location in 1640 when the British East India Company built Fort St. George.
The construction of the temple was completed in 1678.
The temple is known for its beautiful Dravidian architecture and intricate carvings. It features a 10-meter-high tower (rajagopuram) that was added in the 1980s. The main deity, Goddess Kalikambal, is worshipped in a calm posture (shanta swaroopa), believed to have been installed by Adi Shankara.
