Sri Kanchi Kamakshi Amman Temple
Sri Kanchi Kamakshi Amman Temple, also known as Kamakoti Nayaki Kovil, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi, one of the highest aspects of Adi Parashakti. Located in the historic city of Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, the temple is a significant center of Shaktism and is one of the 18 main Shakti Peethas.
The temple's architecture is a splendid example of Dravidian style, with its grand gopurams (entrance towers) and intricate carvings. The main deity, Kamakshi, is depicted in a seated posture, holding a sugarcane bow and a bunch of five flowers in her lower two arms, and a pasha (lasso) and an ankusha (goad) in her upper two arms. A parrot perches near the flower bunch, adding to the divine imagery.
