St Thomas Fort
St. Thomas Fort, also known as Tangasseri Fort or Fortaleza de São Tomé, is a historic fort located in the seaside village of Thangassery in Kollam, Kerala. Built by the Portuguese in 1518, this fort was later occupied by the Dutch in 1661 and subsequently handed over to the British in 1795.
Today, St. Thomas Fort lies in ruins, but its remnants, including an arched doorway, ancient walls, and parts of the towers, still evoke a sense of its illustrious past. The fort is located around 5 kilometers from Kollam city center and 71 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram.
