Talle Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Lower Subansiri district, Arunachal Pradesh, is a protected area spanning around 337 square kilometers and situated at altitudes between 1,200 and 3,000 meters. Established in 1995, it features a mix of subtropical and temperate broadleaved and conifer forests.
The sanctuary hosts diverse wildlife including endangered species like the clouded leopard, Malayan giant squirrel, Indian muntjac, and Asian palm civet. It is rich in birdlife with about 130 species recorded, such as black eagle, collared owlet, scarlet minivet, and Mrs. Gould’s sunbird. The plateau includes dense silver fir and pine forests, bamboo groves, and rolling grasslands, providing important habitats and trekking opportunities in the Eastern Himalayas.
The sanctuary is culturally significant as it is near the Apatani tribe’s home area and requires permits for entry.
