Tanot Rai Mata Mandir

Tanot Rai Mata Mandir is a revered temple located near the Indo-Pak border, about 120 kilometers from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Dedicated to the local deity Tanot Mata, the temple holds great religious and historical significance. The legend of Tanot Mata is deeply rooted in the folklore of the region, and she is believed to be an incarnation of the divine Goddess Hinglaj Mata.

The temple gained prominence during the Indo-Pak wars of 1965 and 1971. According to popular belief, the deity miraculously protected the temple and the surrounding areas from heavy shelling by Pakistani forces. Many of the bombs that fell near the temple failed to explode, sparing the lives of soldiers and civilians. The unexploded bombs are still displayed within the temple premises, serving as a testament to the divine intervention attributed to Tanot Mata.

The temple is managed by the Border Security Force (BSF), and it remains a place of faith and devotion for both the locals and soldiers stationed in the region. The BSF has also built a museum within the temple complex, showcasing the history and artifacts related to the wars and the miraculous events.
