The Telangana State Archaeology Museum, located in Hyderabad, is one of the oldest and most significant museums in South India. Originally established in 1930 by the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, the museum was initially known as the Hyderabad Museum.
It was later renamed the Andhra Pradesh State Archaeology Museum in 1960 and finally became the Telangana State Archaeology Museum after the formation of the state of Telangana in 2014.
The museum is housed in a beautiful Indo-Saracenic style building, featuring delicate domes, high arches, and stylized windows. It boasts a vast and diverse collection of sculptures, artifacts, manuscripts, coins, and art pieces from different historical periods, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
One of the most popular attractions is the Egyptian mummy of Princess Naishu, which was brought to Hyderabad in 1930.
