Temi Tea Garden

Temi Tea Garden in South Sikkim is the only tea estate in the state and is renowned for producing high-quality organic tea. Established in 1969 by the last ruler of Sikkim, King Palden Thondup Namgyal, the garden was created to provide employment to Tibetan refugees.

Spread across 440 acres, the estate is nestled amidst the picturesque slopes of the Tendong Hill range, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The tea produced here is highly sought after in international markets, with its rich aroma and taste making it a favorite among tea connoisseurs.

The estate follows organic farming practices, ensuring that the tea is cultivated without the use of agrochemicals. Visitors to Temi Tea Garden can explore the lush plantations, learn about the tea-making process, and even stay at the heritage bungalow within the estate, which was built by Scottish missionaries in the early 1900s.

The best time to visit is during spring, from March to April, when the first flush of tea is harvested, or in November, when the estate is adorned with blooming cherry blossoms, adding to its scenic beauty.
