Temple of the Vedic Planetarium - TOVP

The Temple of the Vedic Planetarium, located in Mayapur in the Nadia district of West Bengal, is a monumental Hindu temple and planetarium complex that serves as the headquarters of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness).

Once completed, it will be the world’s largest religious monument and will feature the world’s biggest dome. Construction began in 2009 and is expected to conclude soon, with the opening scheduled for 2026. The temple is designed to make Vedic philosophy, cosmology, and culture accessible through interactive exhibits, a vast Vedic altar, and a massive rotating chandelier model that illustrates the Vedic conception of the universe. Inside, a state-of-the-art planetarium theater will showcase Vedic cosmology using digital projections.

The temple can accommodate over 10,000 visitors at a time, highlights East-West architectural influences with special imported marble, and welcomes millions of pilgrims and tourists annually to Mayapur, which is also celebrated as the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The complex aims to bridge science and spirituality and offers a vibrant center for spiritual, educational, and cultural activities, upholding inclusivity by welcoming people of all backgrounds.
