Tihar Prison Complex, located in West Delhi, is the largest prison complex in South Asia and one of the most well-known correctional facilities in India. Established in 1958, it was initially under the administrative control of Punjab but was later transferred to the Delhi administration in 1966.
Spread over more than 400 acres, the complex comprises nine central prisons and is designed to house a large number of inmates, although it often faces challenges of overcrowding.
