Urpad Beel, also known as Urpad Bil, is a natural lake located in the Agia village of Goalpara district in Assam. It is one of the largest natural lakes in Lower Assam and is situated approximately 9 kilometers away from Goalpara, the district headquarters. The lake serves as a vital habitat for a diverse range of aquatic fauna and bird species, including the Greater adjutant, Cotton Pigmy Goose, Baya Weavers, Lesser whistling duck, and Kingfisher.
Urpad Beel is also home to various aquatic plants such as water lilies and common water hyacinth. The lake is an important site for biodiversity conservation and has been the focus of preservation efforts. In February 2020, Assam Soil Conservation and Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma laid the foundation stone for a project worth INR 1 crore to beautify and preserve the lake.
