Vivekananda Sarovar, also known as Budha Talab, is a historic freshwater lake located in the heart of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, covering around 30 hectares. Dating back to the 14th century and believed to have been excavated by Raja Brahmdeo Rai of the Kalchuri dynasty, it gained spiritual significance when Swami Vivekananda stayed in Raipur and reportedly bathed in the lake every morning during his two-year visit in 1897.
The lake area has since been developed as a popular recreational and tourist spot featuring lush gardens, walking paths, seating areas, and a mesmerizing musical fountain.
The centerpiece of the lake is a 37-foot bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda, one of the tallest of its kind in India, visible from a small bridge leading to it.
