War Cemetry
The Imphal War Cemetery, located in Imphal, the capital of Manipur, is a significant historical site that commemorates the soldiers who lost their lives during World War II. The cemetery is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and contains 1,600 Commonwealth burials, primarily of soldiers from the United Kingdom.
Many of those buried here were killed during the Battle of Kohima and Imphal, a crucial conflict in the Burma Campaign.
The cemetery is situated in a small locality of Dewlahland, approximately 10 kilometers from the Imphal International Airport. It is accessible from the Imphal-Dimapur Highway 39, through a branch road about 1 kilometer to the left of the highway and in front of the DM college.
The serene and well-maintained grounds provide a place for reflection and remembrance of the sacrifices made during the war.
