Yawal Wildlife Sanctuary in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, spans about 176 to 178 square kilometers along the banks of the Anner and Manjar rivers, close to the Madhya Pradesh border. Established in 1969, the sanctuary is known for its dense forests dominated by teak, salai, and anjan trees, supporting diverse wildlife including leopards, tigers, sloth bears, wild boars, sambars, wolves, blue bulls, chinkaras, and flying squirrels.
The sanctuary is part of the Satpura mountain range and has faced challenges of deforestation and encroachment but shows signs of ecological recovery due to conservation efforts involving local communities. It features scenic landscapes with opportunities for wildlife safaris, bird watching, trekking, and nature trails, attracting nature enthusiasts and photographers, with the best visiting season from February to May.
