Dhanbad is a district located in the state of Jharkhand, India. It is known for its rich mineral resources, especially coal, which has earned it the nickname "Coal Capital of India." Dhanbad is situated in the Chota Nagpur Plateau region and is surrounded by the Giridih district in the north, Bokaro district in the west, Jamtara district in the east, and Purulia district of West Bengal in the south.
The district covers an area of approximately 2,075 square kilometers and has a population of over 2.7 million people. It is divided into two subdivisions, Dhanbad and Baghmara, which are further divided into a total of 13 blocks.
