Gaya is a district located in the state of Bihar, India. It is situated in the southern part of Bihar and is an important historical and cultural center in the region. Gaya district covers an area of approximately 4,976 square kilometers and has a population of around 4.5 million people.
The district is known for its religious significance, especially for Buddhists and Hindus. Bodh Gaya, a town within the Gaya district, is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. It is the place where Gautama Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree.
