Tourist Attraction
Dungeshwari
Dungeshwari, also known as the Mahakala Caves, is a sacred religious destination for both Hindus and Buddhists. Located about 12-15 kilometers from Gaya, Bihar, along the Falgu River, these caves are believed to be where Gautam Buddha meditated for six years before proceeding to Bodh Gaya, where he finally attained enlightenment.
The site comprises three main caves, each containing Hindu and Buddhist shrines. One of the caves houses a beautiful golden statue of Buddha, approximately six feet tall. The caves are relatively easier to access from Gaya compared to Bodh Gaya, which is often overcrowded with visitors.
The serene environment and the spiritual energy of the place attract pilgrims and tourists alike.
