Jalna is a district in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is located in the Marathwada region of the state. The district headquarters is the city of Jalna. Jalna District covers an area of approximately 7,718 square kilometers and is bordered by Aurangabad District to the north, Parbhani District to the east, Beed District to the south, and Jalgaon District to the west.
The district has a rich historical and cultural heritage. It was formerly known as Jirnoddhar and was ruled by various dynasties, including the Satavahanas, Rashtrakutas, Yadavas of Devagiri, and the Bahmani Sultanate.
