Palghar district is located in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is situated in the Konkan division of the state and is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Palghar district was carved out of Thane district in 2014 and is one of the 36 districts in Maharashtra.

Palghar district is bordered by the Arabian Sea on the west, Thane district on the south, Nashik district on the east, and Gujarat state on the north. The district spans an area of approximately 4,715 square kilometers and has a diverse topography that includes coastal plains, hilly regions, and forested areas.
