Raigad district is located in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is situated in the Konkan region and is known for its rich historical and cultural heritage. The district is named after the Raigad Fort, which was the former capital of the Maratha Empire and the place of coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a prominent ruler in Indian history.
Raigad district covers an area of approximately 7,152 square kilometers and has a population of over 2.6 million people. The district is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on the west, Mumbai and Thane districts on the north, Pune district on the east, and Ratnagiri district on the south.
