Samastipur district is located in the state of Bihar, India. It is situated in the Mithila region of the state and falls under the Darbhanga division. The district headquarters is in the town of Samastipur.
Geographically, Samastipur district is bordered by Darbhanga district in the east, Vaishali district in the west, and Begusarai district in the south. The district covers an area of approximately 2,904 square kilometers.
