Sonitpur is a district located in the northern part of the Indian state of Assam. It is one of the largest districts in the state and is known for its rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and natural beauty. The district is named after the Sonai river, which flows through the region.

Sonitpur district is situated between the Brahmaputra River in the north and the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in the south. It shares its borders with Arunachal Pradesh in the east and the districts of Biswanath, Nagaon, and Udalguri in the west, east, and south respectively.
