Sirsa Fort is an ancient fort located in Sirsa district of Haryana, believed to have been founded by a king named Saras in the 7th century A.D. according to local tradition. The remains of the fort can still be seen on the southeast side of present-day Sirsa town, covering about 5 kilometers in circumference.
Sirsa itself has a rich history dating back to ancient times with archaeological findings including terracotta objects, coins from various dynasties, and inscriptions. Historically known as Sairishaka or Sarsuti, the fort and the region have seen multiple rulers, including the Mughals and the Marathas. Today, Sirsa Fort stands as an important heritage site reflecting the area's ancient significance and medieval architecture.
