These caves, carved into the Indrakeeladri Hills near the Krishna River, date back to the 7th century and are attributed to the Eastern Chalukya dynasty. The site consists of two main caves: the upper cave, which is larger and better preserved, and the lower cave, which features a unique triple-celled structure. The caves are named after Akkanna and Madanna, two influential ministers in the court of the Golconda Sultanate during the 17th century, although the caves themselves predate this period.
