Amer Fort

Amer Fort, also known as Amber Fort, is a magnificent historic palace complex situated on a hill in Amer, about 11 kilometers from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I, a trusted general of Mughal Emperor Akbar, the fort showcases a beautiful blend of Hindu Rajput and Mughal architectural styles with its large ramparts, ornate gates, and cobbled pathways.

The fort overlooks the scenic Maota Lake, which was the main water source for the palace. Spread over four levels, the fort comprises several courtyards and notable structures including the Diwan-e-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-e-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), and Sukh Niwas, where a unique cooling system uses water channels to create a comfortable climate. The fort also houses the Shila Devi temple and impressive frescoes, reflecting the royal heritage of the Kachwaha Rajput rulers. It served as the royal residence before Jaipur became the capital and is a top tourist attraction known for its rich history, artistic grandeur, and captivating light and sound shows in the evenings.
