Ater Fort
Ater Fort, located about 35 kilometers west of Bhind in Madhya Pradesh, was built between 1664 and 1668 by Bhadauria Rajput chiefs Raja Badan Singh, Maha Singh, and Bakhat Singh. The fort, situated deep in the Chambal valley, is an example of Rajput-Mughal architecture and once stood as a symbol of the Bhadauria Rajput clan's power in the region known historically as Bhadawar.
Although now in ruins, the fort has notable structures including 'Khooni Darwaza' (Bloody Gate), Raja Mahal, Rani Mahal, Mahadwar, Diwan-e-Khas, Diwan-e-Aam, and Rani ka Bagh, each reflecting its former grandeur. The fort holds historical importance for its royal courts and defensive features and offers views over the surrounding village and landscapes.
Despite damage caused over time, it remains a significant heritage site symbolizing the Rajput legacy and the valor of the Bhadauria rulers.
