Avachitgad Fort, also known as Avchitgad, is a historic fort situated near Roha in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. Built by the Shilahar Kings, it was later occupied and used by the Nizam of Ahmednagar and eventually reconstructed by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The name "Avachitgad" can be translated to "the fort built in a hurry."
Standing at an elevation of approximately 300 meters (984 feet), the fort offers trekkers stunning panoramic views of other nearby forts such as Talagad, Telbaila, Sarasgad, Ghangad, Sudhagad, Raigad, and Savashnagad. The trek to the fort is known to be relatively easy, making it accessible to a variety of adventure enthusiasts.
Some noteworthy features of Avachitgad include its dodecagonal-shaped cistern used for bathing and washing purposes, a small Pingalsai Goddess Temple, and multiple cisterns with potable water.
