Bahula Fort, located in the Igatpuri taluka of Nashik district, Maharashtra, is an ancient hill fort positioned along the historic trade route passing through Thal Ghat. Perched at about 3,165 feet, the fort features rock-cut steps leading to its entrance, which was once defensively protected by a ladder that could be drawn up.
Though now in ruins, remnants of fortifications, water cisterns, and arched structures remain. Historically, it was captured by Captain Briggs of the East India Company in 1818 and later, in 1944, the fort and surrounding area were handed over to the Indian Military, which uses the site as a firing range.
This military use restricts public access, making the fort less visited today, but it still offers panoramic views of surrounding forts and a glimpse into its historical strategic significance during the Maratha period.
