The aquarium building is octagonal and three stories tall, with 14 large tanks on the first floor and many smaller tanks on the upper floors, creating a natural-like habitat for the aquatic life. Managed by the Karnataka State Government Department of Fisheries, the aquarium serves as an educational and recreational site, providing visitors a chance to explore diverse aquatic species.
It is open daily except Mondays and the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, and has a nominal entry fee with special rates for school children. The aquarium's proximity to other city landmarks makes it a popular attraction in Bengaluru.
