Bharat-Bangladesh Maitri Udyan
The Bharat-Bangladesh Maitri Udyan is a beautiful park located in Chottakhola, South Tripura, near the India-Bangladesh border. It was built as a tribute to the Bangladeshi Freedom Fighters and Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
The park features a war museum, hillocks, verdant valleys, lakes, plants, sculptures, and graveyards of Bangladeshi Freedom Fighters.
The park was inaugurated on December 16, 2010, the Victory Day of Bangladesh, by former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in the presence of Indian and Bangladeshi artists, intellectuals, and freedom fighters.
The park also includes statues of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as well as terracotta artworks by renowned artists from Tripura and Bangladesh.
