Chandrabadani Devi
Chandrabadani Devi is a revered Hindu temple located in the Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. Perched at an elevation of 2,277 meters on the Chandrakoot mountain, this temple is considered one of the Siddhpeeths and holds immense religious significance.
According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that the torso of Goddess Sati fell at this site when Lord Shiva carried her burnt body, leading to the establishment of the temple. The temple does not house an idol of the goddess; instead, a Shri-yantra is carved on a flat stone, which is worshipped by devotees.
A unique ritual is performed annually, where a cloth canopy is tied over the Shri-yantra by a Brahmin priest who must do so blindfolded, as seeing the body of Goddess Sati is considered forbidden.
