Chaneti Stupa
The Chaneti Stupa is an ancient Buddhist monument located in the Yamunanagar district of Haryana, about three kilometers east of Jagadhri and three kilometers northwest of the archaeological site Sugh.
The stupa dates back to the 3rd century BC and is protected by the Government of India. It was referred to by the famous Chinese traveler Hiuen Tsang in his travel accounts.
The stupa is hemispherical in shape and constructed using baked bricks layered in a concentric manner. It features a square space at the top, which was originally filled with earth and likely supported a harmika (a small platform) and a chhatravali (umbrella).
Four shrines were added in the four cardinal directions during the Kushana period, and a new pathway was built for circumambulation.
