Chatri Lake, also known as Chatri Talao, is an artificial water reservoir located in the southeastern part of Amravati, Maharashtra. It was constructed in 1888 on a small spring called Kali Nadi to supply drinking water to the city.
Today, it is stocked with water from the Upper Wardha Dam. The lake is surrounded by lush greenery, gardens, and jogging tracks, making it a popular spot for picnics, boating, bird watching, and relaxation among locals and tourists. One notable feature is the Chatri, a large white marble cenotaph built by the British in memory of soldiers who died in World War I, which stands on one of the lake’s banks.
The lake area offers a serene environment and blends natural beauty with cultural heritage, creating a favored recreational and spiritual retreat in Amravati.
