Chhatedi Bhuj
Chhatedi Bhuj, also known as the Royal Chhatardis, is a historical site located in Bhuj, Kachchh (Kutch), Gujarat. These cenotaphs or chhatris were constructed by the Jadeja rulers in the 18th century and are dedicated to the royal family members. The site showcases a blend of Rajputana and Mughal architectural styles, with intricate carvings and ornate pillars.
The most notable chhatris are the Rao Lakha Chhatri and the Rao Lakhpat Chhatri. The Rao Lakha Chhatri is particularly famous for its detailed carvings and historical significance. Unfortunately, many of the chhatris were damaged during the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, but their elegance and historical importance can still be appreciated.
