The Currency Building, also known as Ghare Baire, is a historic building located in B.B.D. Bagh (formerly Dalhousie Square) in Kolkata, West Bengal. It was originally built in 1833 to house the Calcutta branch of the Agra Bank. Over the years, it has served various purposes, including being the first central office of the Reserve Bank of India from 1935 to 1937.
The building is an excellent example of Italianate architecture, featuring Venetian windows, brick arches, wrought iron gates, and marble and sandstone floors. It has undergone several restoration efforts to preserve its architectural integrity and historical significance.
