Devimane

Devimane is a small hill station and village located in Sirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka, part of the lush forest zone of the Western Ghats. It lies along the scenic Devimane Ghat road, which connects the Malenadu region around Sirsi with the coastal Karavali region near Kumta, featuring about 15 hairpin curves through dense forests and hills.

The name "Devimane" means "home of goddess Devi," named after a temple dedicated to Goddess Durga situated at the start of this road. This area is known for its rich biodiversity, including wildlife such as elephants, gaurs, lion-tailed macaques, and a variety of birds and butterflies.

The region also has many waterfalls, trekking spots, and panoramic viewpoints, making it a favorite destination for nature lovers and travelers seeking tranquility in a pristine environment. Devimane village itself is small with a population of around 145 people, and the nearest town for economic activities is Sirsi, about 32 kilometers away.

The ghat road and surrounding forest are protected, but the area also faces challenges like wildlife being hit by vehicles on the road. Devimane combines natural beauty, religious significance, and biodiversity in the heart of the Western Ghats.
