Dr MGR Memorial
The Dr. MGR Memorial, officially known as the M.G.R. and Amma Memorial, is a tribute to two iconic leaders of Tamil Nadu, M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) and J. Jayalalithaa (Amma).
Located on the Marina Beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the memorial complex was inaugurated on December 25, 1987, marking the spot where MGR was cremated. Later, a section was added to honor J. Jayalalithaa, who was cremated at the same location on December 6, 2016.
The memorial features a black marble platform with an eternal flame and portraits of both leaders. The MGR section is enclosed by a lotus-shaped wall, while the Amma section is enclosed by a phoenix-shaped wall.
The complex is a place of reverence for followers of both leaders, who continue to visit and pay their respects.
