Elgandal Fort
Elgandal Fort, located in Karimnagar, Telangana, is a historic fort built during the Kakatiya dynasty (1083–1323 AD). Originally known as Veligundula, the fort later came under the control of the Qutub Shahi dynasty, the Mughal Empire, and the Nizams of Hyderabad.
It was once the administrative headquarters of Karimnagar before the district headquarters was shifted in 1905. The fort is situated on a hillock overlooking the Manair River, approximately 10 kilometers from Karimnagar. It features a mosque, an Eidgah, and several tombs of Muslim saints, including Syed Shah Munawar Quadri Saheb and Doola Shah Saheb.
One of its unique structures is the Do Minar, which has two tall pillars that oscillate when shaken. The fort was strategically designed with a moat filled with crocodiles to prevent enemy incursions.
