Ghantai Temple
The Ghantai Temple, also known as the Ghanti Temple, is a ruined Jain temple located in the town of Khajuraho, in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. The temple was constructed around 995 CE during the reign of the Chandela king Dhanga. It is dedicated to the Jain tirthankara Rishabhanatha (also known as Adinatha).
The temple is part of the Khajuraho Group of Monuments, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although the temple is now in ruins, with its walls collapsed, the surviving pillars of its entrance porch and the maha-mandapa (large hall) still showcase intricate carvings. The pillars feature a distinctive chain-and-bell (ghanti) motif, which gives the temple its name.
