Hargad
Hargad Fort is a hill fort located in the Baglan region of Nashik district, Maharashtra, situated on the Selbari hill range. It stands at about 4,160 feet, making it one of the taller forts in the area and is the third highest fort in Maharashtra after Salher and Salota. The fort was primarily built to protect the nearby Mulher Fort and maintain control over the Burhanpur-Surat ancient trade route that passes nearby.
Though it is a smaller and often overlooked fort, it has three entrances and remnants of fortifications, water cisterns, temples, and a large cannon known as Hazarbagdi on site. The fort features a wide plateau at its summit with ruins of structures that suggest it housed royal residents or soldiers.
The fort is accessible by trekking through dense forests and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, making it a favored spot for history enthusiasts and trekkers.
