Hussain Sagar Lake is a heart-shaped artificial lake located in Hyderabad, Telangana. Built in 1562 by Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah, the lake was named after Hussain Shah Wali, the Master of Architecture in the Kingdom. The lake spans an area of 5.7 square kilometers (2.2 square miles) and is fed by the River Musi.
One of the most iconic features of Hussain Sagar is the monolithic statue of Gautama Buddha, which stands on Gibraltar Rock in the middle of the lake. The statue, erected in 1992, is 18 meters (59 feet) high and weighs around 450 tons. The lake also features a variety of recreational activities, including boating, parasailing, and water skiing.
