Jog Falls, located in the Sagara taluk of Shivamogga (Shimoga) district in Karnataka, is the second highest plunge waterfall in India, created by the Sharavati River dropping about 830 feet (253 meters). The waterfall is divided into four distinct cascades named Raja, Rani, Roarer, and Rocket, with Raja being a sheer vertical drop.

Jog Falls is a breathtaking natural spectacle, especially during the monsoon season from June to September, when the water flow is at its peak and rainbows can often be seen. The falls are surrounded by dense evergreen forests and rugged terrain, making it a popular spot for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers.

Visitors can descend nearly 1,400 steps to reach the base of the falls from designated viewpoints and enjoy scenic views. The nearest major city is Shimoga, about 100 kilometers away, with convenient access via road, rail, and nearby airports like Hubli. The site includes facilities such as viewpoints, hiking trails, and adventure activities like boating and kayaking nearby at the Sharavathi Adventure Camp. The best times to visit for the fullest waterfall experience are the monsoon and post-monsoon months, while winter offers a calmer, pleasant climate for sightseeing.
