It is located near the tripoint border of India, Nepal, and China, with its summit marking the meeting point of these three countries.

Situated about 20 kilometers north of the towering Kangchenjunga, Jongsong Peak is snow-covered throughout the year and part of the Kangchenjunga massif. The first successful ascent was made in 1930 by a German expedition led by Günter Dyhrenfurth.

The peak is less commercialized and less frequently climbed than other Himalayan giants, offering a remote and challenging experience for mountaineers. Its name, meaning "Champion’s Peak," reflects its prominence and cultural significance in the region. The area around the peak is known for rugged terrain and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.
