Joysagar Tank, also known as Joysagar Borpukhuri, is a historic man-made tank located in Sivasagar, Assam. It was constructed in 1697 by Ahom king Rudra Singha in memory of his mother, Joymoti Konwari.
The tank covers an area of 318 acres (1.28 square kilometers) and is considered one of the largest man-made tanks in Asia.
The tank is surrounded by several temples, including the Joy Dol (Keshabrai Vishnu Dol), Shiva Dol (Baidyanath Shiva Dol), and Devighar (Devaloya), which add to its cultural and historical significance. The water level of the tank is 14 feet higher than the ground level, and it attracts various migratory birds, making it a popular spot for birdwatching.
