Kaladgad Fort
Kaladgad Fort in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, is a small ancient fort built atop the Sadhale Ghat to keep watch on the route to the nearby Harishchandragad Fort. It is positioned to the west of Harishchandragad and is believed to have been constructed around the same time as that fort. The fort’s location on a hill and difficult access made it an effective lookout point for monitoring movements on the strategic path.
Though smaller and less famous than some nearby forts, Kaladgad was part of a network of forts intended to secure the region and control important routes in the Western Ghats. The fort is roughly medieval in origin and can be reached by trekking from the nearby village Pethechiwadi, with trails passing through dense forests and rocky terrain.
Its ruins include water cisterns carved in rock, and from the top, one can see Harishchandragad and other surrounding hills of the area.
