Maa Bargabhima Temple, also known as Vibhash Shakti Peeth or Bhimakali Mandir, is an ancient Hindu temple located in Tamluk, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, where the left ankle of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen.
The temple, situated on the banks of the Rupnarayana River, has a rich history dating back over 1150 years, built by a Maharaja of the Mayor dynasty. The temple is revered for its spiritual significance and is associated with legends from the Mahabharata and Puranas. It is said that King Tamradhwaj constructed the temple after witnessing the miraculous revival of fish in a sacred pond nearby.
The temple blends Hindu, Buddhist, and Oriya architectural styles, reflecting its diverse cultural influences. Maa Bargabhima is worshipped as Kapalini, and Lord Shiva is known as Sarvanand in this sacred site. The temple hosts grand celebrations during Durga Puja and Bengali New Year, attracting devotees from across the region.
