The Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple, also known as the Kardmeshwar Mahadev Mandir, is one of the oldest surviving temples in Varanasi. Located at the southern end of the city near Kandwa Pokhra, it was built in the 12th century by the Garhwal rulers in the Nagara style of architecture.
The temple features idols of various deities such as Adhnareshwar, Brahma, Vishnu, Uma Maheswar, Balram-Revati, and Nagas.
The temple is also part of the Panchkroshi Yatra, a sacred pilgrimage route around Varanasi. According to tradition, it serves as the first night halt for devotees on their 80-kilometer salvation walk.
