Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum
Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum, located in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is a cultural institution showcasing over a thousand years of Indian art. The museum complex consists of two restored buildings, including a colonial house built in 1905 and the Claude Batley house from the 1930s.
The museum features paintings from Persian, Mughal, Deccan, Pahari, and Rajasthani schools, along with Tibetan Thangkas, Company School portraits, and modernist works from the Bengal School. It also houses sculptures in stone, metal, wood, and Bidri, spanning centuries of artistic heritage.
The museum was established on the ancestral property of Kasturbhai Lalbhai, a Padma Bhushan awardee and textile industrialist, who played a key role in restoring ancient Jain manuscripts. The site was renovated by architect Rahul Mehrotra and reopened as a museum in January 2017.
