The Khambhalida Buddhist Caves, located near Jetpur in Rajkot, Gujarat, are a fascinating group of three ancient rock-cut caves. Discovered in 1958 by archaeologist P.P. Pandya, these caves date back to the 4th or 5th century AD and are carved into limestone rocks.
The central cave, known as the Chaitya Griha, contains a stupa and is flanked by two intricately carved sculptures of Bodhisattvas—Padmapani and Vajrapani—making it a significant site for Buddhist heritage.
The caves are believed to have been used by Buddhist monks for meditation, and their serene surroundings add to their spiritual ambiance. Situated at the foot of a small hill and near a spring, the location is picturesque and peaceful.
