Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Dewas and parts of Sehore districts in Madhya Pradesh, covers around 132 square kilometers of dry deciduous forest primarily consisting of teak, tendu, and bamboo. Established in 1955, it connects with the Ratapani Tiger Reserve through ecological corridors and hosts a variety of wildlife including tigers that have migrated from Ratapani, leopards, jungle cats, jackals, and striped hyenas.
The sanctuary is also home to herbivores such as nilgai, blackbuck, chinkara, chital, sambar, barking deer, wild boar, and four-horned antelope. Birdlife is rich, with around 125 species recorded including the Indian paradise flycatcher, the state bird of Madhya Pradesh. The sanctuary is appreciated for its peaceful environment, opportunities for wildlife observation, and its natural scenic beauty.
